Global Wildlife

Global Wildlife is a 900 acre free-ranging natural environment with many endangered species. It is a non-profit organization that teaches active conservation and wildlife preservation through hands-on education.

We took the Private Pinz Tour...riding in a Pinzgauer, a German war vehicle. By taking the Private Pinz Tour, we were able to drive right up to the animals and feed them corn. They love corn, it's like candy to them. The tour lasted 1 hour. Here are some of the animals that we saw.

The giraffes stuck their long necks into the Pinz and ate right out of the basket! These are two of the mommy giraffes. The babies ate out of our hands. The daddy giraffe stayed at a distance and ate the branches on the tall trees.

Our tour guide, Carrie, took a picture of us with the giraffes. Neither of us had ever been this close to giraffes before. They were very friendly and would allow us to pet them while they ate.

We also were able to feed llamas. The one eating out of Chris' hand is a momma. The spotted one is one of the babies. They were very friendly as well, but didn't like to be petted.

The cows, longhorns and buffaloes were the funniest! When they came up to the Pinz they would open their mouths and stick out their tongues. They wanted us to pour the corn down their throats. They didn't chew it...they eat constantly in case their is a famine...I know, ridiculous! Some of them had huge horns, so you had to watch as they walked around the Pinz. One of the cows was a bully and would push the other cows away from the food.

The camels were the best animals of the day! I am next to Aladdin, he was the male Bactrian (two hump) camel. He was so sweet. Aladdin would get close and kiss you on the cheek...very slobbery! He had tons of fur. The hair on his head was matted into dreadlocks. The other camel was Sally, she was a Dromedary (one hump) camel. She was a diva...only wanted food, no petting. Like the cows, they wanted the corn poured into their mouths.

Even though we had to make the hour drive to Folsom, LA to experience Global Wildlife, it was well worth it...so much fun! Being up close and personal with God's awesome creations really put into perspective how big and deep our God is! To even consider that these wonderful animals weren't created by an infinitely bigger God, it would be absurd. It was simply amazing!! Definitely one of the best things we have done since we have been in Louisiana!
